Description:
This position of Lead Epic Architect is in the Enterprise Architecture department within Clients IT’s Chief Digital Office (CDO) organization.
This position will be responsible for defining consumable and actionable Epic system-related strategies and architectures while proving them out through proof of concepts.

The position involves deep knowledge of Epic systems, from end to end architecture to code and implementation, and it requires the ability to collaborative with EA and external stakeholders. It requires hands-on experience implementing Epic business solutions with knowledge of current application development languages, integration, tooling and security. It also require strong communication, strategic thinking, and influencing skills.

Essential Functions:
• Define forward-looking EA target architectures for Epic-related strategic initiatives, including electronic medical records, billing and claims
• Define EA strategies for technology planning involving Epic systems, with knowledge of latest technology trends in cloud services, AI, digital engagement, Blockchain, etc.
• Define architecture patterns, guidelines and decision frameworks
• Implement proof of concepts and reference implementations to demonstrate strategic architecture decisions and architecture patterns

Basic Qualifications:
• 7+ years of proven experience in Epic architecture design and Epic applications
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills, with proven experience in building and maintaining relationships with business stakeholders and technical teams
• Strong communication, inter-personnel, influence and collaboration skills
• Proven track record of business acumen and customer focus
• Good strategic thinking and planning skills
• In-depth knowledge of Epic components (e.g. Hyperspace, Cache, InterConnect, Clarity, Services and API’s), as well as Epic application modules, including mobile and HIE offerings
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies for proof of concepts
• Specialized knowledge of two or more architecture domains, including business, application, data, infrastructure and security architectures
• Good knowledge of related clinical applications, e.g. PACS, lab systems
• Extensive hands-on experience with development/coding of Epic applications
• Extensive experience in Epic-related system integration and deployment
• Experience with cloud solutions such as Microsoft Azure and Dynamics, IBM Cloud
• Experience using version control systems such as git
• Knowledge of project delivery methodologies, including agile methodologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications (listed in order of importance):
(The preferred qualifications will be used to further narrow the pool of candidates that meet all of the basic qualifications)
• Knowledge of application integration and middleware, including application servers, messaging infrastructure including Kafka and IBM Message Broker
• Knowledge of security architecture design and implementation techniques, including authentications, authorization and encryption
• Design and implementation experience in database systems
• Experience of working in large complex organizations
• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline
